In the late 1970s, Dylan became a born-again Christian and released a series of albums of contemporary gospel music, notably Slow Train Coming, before returning to his more familiar rock-based idiom with Infidels. In 1975 Dylan released his career-defining album Blood on the Tracks followed by the critically and commercially successful Desire the following year.
